In the Oklahoma Sooners’ final home game as members of the Big 12, Dillon Gabriel put on a show en route to a 69-45 win over the TCU Horned Frogs. If it was indeed Gabriel’s final game at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, he certainly went out in style. By day’s end, the fifth-year senior tallied 400 yards passing and four total TDs.

Additionally, running back Gavin Sawchuk continued his impressive run of form, putting up 130 rushing yards and three TDs on 22 carries. This marked the fourth consecutive game in which Sawchuk has surpassed 100 yards on the ground.

Speaking impressive runs of form, Drake Stoops is still on fire. In his final game in Norman, Stoops hauled in 12 receptions for 125 yards. As a parting gift for Sooner Nation, he provided one final TD.

The defense was another story. The struggles (520 yards) can partially be contributed to a bit of second-half sleepwalking, but this group is definitely headed in the wrong direction. Needless to say, the end of the regular season couldn’t have come soon enough for Ted Roof’s group.

With Texas drubbing Texas Tech on Friday evening, Oklahoma fans now need to root for the BYU Cougars. If Oklahoma State drops the ball in Stillwater on Saturday, the Sooners will have themselves a rematch with the Longhorns. This isn’t a position the players, coaches and fans wanted to be in, but the Sooners do deserve plenty of credit for staying alive in this race. It would have been easy for these guys to hang their heads after consecutive losses to Kansas and Oklahoma State, but they have shown plenty of fight down the stretch.

Oklahoma State is a 16.5-point favorite at home, and BYU has been dreadful on the raod in 2023. However, OSU has proven to be prone to a letdown, so the result is far from a foregone conclusion.
