The last defensive back that was under scholarship at Oklahoma from Tulsa Union HS was the recent Tre Brown, who made big plays for Oklahoma after coming out of the prep ranks at a frame of 5’10 & 178lbs. Oklahoma has now secured the commitment of Jayden Rowe, a current Tulsa Union cornerback who stands 6’3 & 210 lbs. before this summer offseason. Rowe has committed to the Oklahoma Sooners over several other programs such as Iowa State, Arkansas, Baylor and many more.
Every moment is a fresh beginning.#OUDNA @LincolnRiley @CoachRoyM @CoachGrinch— Jayden "h2o" Rowe (@H2oJayden) April 30, 2021
What a complete change in the philosophy over the span of five years, huh? Rowe is a HUGE defensive back that looks like he can stand to gain another 15 pounds to put him nearly at 225. When watching his film, the first thing that should immediately stick out is how PHYSICAL he is at the line of scrimmage whether it’s in pass coverage or run support.
Rowe is now the Sooners’ ninth total commit of the 2022 recruiting cycle (second of the day). Currently, he is rated as the No. 13 player in the state of Oklahoma according to 247Sports Composite rankings, but I would expect those numbers to jump once the 2021 HS football season commences. The continued mission of Grinch is been clear— get bigger, more athletic, high-IQ players into the program, and that is evident with the addition of Rowe.
