Micah Bowens II, a former Penn State Nittany Lions QB, entered the transfer portal nearly five days ago and now finds himself to be a member of the Oklahoma Sooners. To be honest, I am quite surprised by the nature of this particular transfer (not on OU’s end, but on his), but only because of who Oklahoma has in the quarterback room next year with Spencer Rattler and Caleb Williams.

Bowens comes from the same school as former Sooners DeMarco Murray, Quentin Carter and Ryan Reynolds (as well as famous Ohio State & Miami flameout Tate Martell) — which is Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas. While at Bishop Gorman, he garnered such attention as the No. 2 overall player from Nevada and a top 20 dual threat QB in the 2020 class.
Who is Micah Bowens and how does he fit in under Lincoln Riley? He has a heavy arm, but his ability to cut and get up field is what makes him dynamic. However, I don’t believe Bowens is under the guise that he will likely end up starting over Rattler or Williams. I do see a lot of upside in a QB transfer replacing Chandler Morris, giving depth to the QB room, being coached by the best offensive mind in the country, and then transferring somewhere else two years down the road. I think this is definitely a mutual agreement of both parties really doing good by another.
