Caleb Williams unofficially visited Lincoln Riley and the Oklahoma Sooners on March 5, specifying that it was good to talk to Riley to clear some things up. Of course, Williams’ visit to Norman was the last one he would take before most of the country went on various lockdown procedures in response to COVID-19. Being the last visit is always best, and it proved right for the Sooners in this instance.
There’s not a lot to say when Lincoln Riley snags the best signal caller in two out of the last three recruiting cycles other than “wow”. And honestly, that’s how you can assess Williams’ talent. While most people will liken Spencer Rattler to Baker Mayfield, many people will compare Caleb Williams to Deshaun Watson or Justin Fields. He is an athletic young man who can be molded into yet another Heisman Trophy winner and first-round pick. Additionally, his gunslinging mentality will certainly help him endear himself to the OU fan base.
Williams is now the 11th commit of the 2021 recruiting cycle for the Oklahoma Sooners and is the first massive domino to fall for this recruiting class. Currently, Caleb Williams is a five-star prospect in addition to being the No. 1 QB and the No. 4 overall prospect according to 247Sports Composite. He has the frame at 6’2, 209 lbs., the speed, athleticism, strength and an exceptional pocket presence. As he is able to learn from Lincoln Riley and Spencer Rattler, his pass accuracy is likely to increase. The Sooners’ offense is going to be incredibly potent for many years to come.
