Oklahoma’s second game (vs. Tennessee) is scheduled for Sept. 12, while it’s third game (at Army) is scheduled for Sept. 26. Time will tell whether or not the latter game will even be played, but regardless, OU will have plenty of prep time between games in the early going. It also gives the team, coaches and support staff an opportunity ease into such an unconventional season.
“If the season is indeed permitted to start as scheduled, the benefit of extra time between games will help our teams manage any variety of possible circumstances that may occur,” said OU AD Joe Castiglione in the department’s press release. “Our original schedule had an open date between the second and third games, so now we will have a span of five weeks to play three games. It provides us a more gradual approach to safely manage the conditions of these unprecedented times.”
Other game details, such as broadcast information, will be released at a later date.
