In light of the increased demand for food and basic goods across the nation stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, former Oklahoma Sooners Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield and his wife Emily are matching all donations up to $50K towards the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

Additionally, the Cleveland Browns QB is also contributing to more than 3,500 meals for Meals on Wheels in Norman as well as another 8,000 meals for the St. Augustine Hunger Center in Cleveland.

As you might recall, Mayfield assisted Meals on Wheels as part of his community service obligations following his summer 2017 arrest, and it’s now apparent that the experience made a lasting impact on the future Heisman winner and No. 1 overall pick.

• Roughly one week after announcing his decision to enter the transfer portal, former Oklahoma running back Trey Sermon has indeed picked the Ohio State Buckeyes for his final collegiate season. Trey gave his all for the Sooners during his time in Norman, and I hope this move catapults him to plenty of future success.

• John Hoover recently wrote a piece for SI’s AllSooners about Alex Grinch and the challenge he’s set for Oklahoma’s defensive tackles. With the departure of several key DL contributors, including All-Big 12 Neville Gallimore, a number of newcomers will be relied upon to pick up the slack this fall.
• Time sure does fly by. On Saturday, seven-time Pro Bowl RB Adrian Peterson celebrated his 35th birthday. Happy B-Day, AD!

• On this day in 1947, the Oklahoma Sooners sank the Texas Longhorns en route to an appearance in the national championship game. OU would ultimately fall in Madison Square Garden to a Holy Cross team led by Bob Cousy, but Ken Pryor should always be remembered for the game-winner that got them there.

• On Friday, the Oklahoma City Thunder announced a plan to compensate its game-night staff and arena employees for what would have amounted to the remainder of the regular season. Most other pro organizations have also provided similar financial assistance to its in-house workers since the suspension of sports leagues nationwide began.

• Duke Blue Devils sophomore guard Tre Jones has declared for the 2020 NBA Draft after averaging 16.2 ppg, 6.4 apg and 4.2 rpg in the shortened college basketball season.
• The Arizona Cardinals have signed former Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake to a transition tag tender after his first season in the desert.
• After signing veteran QB Phillip Rivers, the Indianapolis Colt have made it clear that they intend to retain primary backup Jacoby Brissett, although other backup Brian Hoyer was released.
• The Las Vegas Raiders have signed former Philadelphia Eagles WR and Super Bowl LII champ Nelson Agholor to a one-year deal.
