Welcome home, @CoachSBeamer! pic.twitter.com/L0B7caQ2oh
Since 2018, Beamer has been in charge of the tight ends and H-backs, which is a position group that is currently in a very healthy spot at Oklahoma. Additionally, he’s played a huge role in OU’s improvement on special teams — an area that was always a trademark of his famous father, Frank Beamer. On the recruiting front, he helped open a lot of doors in the DMV area, which has turned into somewhat of a pipeline for the program.
In his career, Beamer has served under the likes of Phil Fulmer, Steve Spurrier, Frank Beamer, Kirby Smart and Lincoln Riley, so it’s safe to say that he’s prepared for this moment. We wish you the best, Coach Beamer!
On the same topic, one other assistant to keep an eye on in Cale Gundy, who is in the conversation to occupy the new OC opening for Mark Stoops at Kentucky. This would entail being a play-caller, which is something he’s never had the opportunity to do as a coach. He’s a man who loves his alma mater and has always been more than comfortable in Norman, but the appeal of a new opportunity and challenge would be understandable. We’ll just have to keep an eye on it.
