The last time we saw the Oklahoma Sooners, Spencer Rattler looked like a veteran QB, Ronnie Perkins looked like the best defensive lineman in college football and Rhamondre Stevenson looked every bit the part of a lead back in Lincoln Riley’s offense. Unfortunately, that was two weeks ago! Due to COVID-19 positives and contact tracing, we’ve had to wait a bit longer to watch this team continue its momentum towards a sixth consecutive Big 12 Championship.
Now we have the Baylor Bears. Yes, they’re probably better than their record 2-5 would indicate, but that doesn’t mean they’re good. Frankly, anyone who thought they were going to be a factor in the 2020 Big 12 race simply wasn’t paying attention. Dave Aranda was a great hire, and the program is still in a healthy spot, but that great 2019 defense lost nine of its 11 starters and was just never going to be able to keep with most Big 12 offenses. Meanwhile, the Bears are dead last in the Big 12 in rushing offense and will be facing the Big 12’s top rushing defense on Saturday. Not ideal!
Take it away, Toby.
