Well, you had to think it would happen to OU eventually, right?
According to OU Athletics and the Big 12 Conference, this weekend’s game between the Oklahoma Sooners and West Virginia Mountaineers has been postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests within the OU football program. The teams will face off on the conference’s built-in open date of Dec. 12.

First, we certainly send our best wishes to the coaches and players affected by this. The majority of my immediate family has gone through this, and I can confirm that it’s not fun. Second, it’s fortunate that neither team has experienced a postponement up to this point, as it allows for this game to be played the weekend prior to the Big 12 Championship. Teams that have already had a game postponed would be SOL in this scenario.
Up next for the Sooners is a Dec. 5 game against the Baylor Bears, who have lost five straight contests entering this weekend’s matchup with the Kansas State Wildcats. If you’re an OU fan, you’ll spend this weekend rooting for the Iowa State Cyclones (unless you just want OU to beat Texas a second time, which I would understand) and hoping for chaos across the college football landscape.
