COLLEGE FOOTBALL: DEC 07 Big 12 Championship Game

FINALLY!

On the eve of the Oklahoma Sooners’ game in Lubbock, News 9 reported that defensive end Ronnie Perkins and running back Rhamondre Stevenson will indeed be available for action against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Unfortunately, this does not include Trejan Bridges, the third player who received a six-game suspension leading up to last winter’s Peach Bowl.

While the saga isn’t closed completely, I’m thankful that all of us can finally move on from this storyline. My hope is that the NCAA will eventually evolve with the times and discontinue its archaic insistence on punishing student-athletes for marijuana use, but that’s probably asking too much.

It goes without saying that having an All-Big 12 caliber player like Perkins back in the fold will only enhance a defensive front that has really hit its stride in recent weeks. Meanwhile, Stevenson adds a home run threat to a backfield that has sorely needed such a thing.

Anyway head on down to the comments to give your thoughts on today’s action!
