Class of 2021 five-star QB Brock Vandagriff has announced his decommitment from the Oklahoma Sooners. The No. 8 prospect in the nation originally committed to OU in June of 2019 before re-opening his recruitment on New Year’s Day.

Losing Vandagriff’s commitment is a tough blow for Oklahoma to absorb, but there is a (small) chance he could re-join the Sooners’ 2021 class as the next recruiting cycle continues to play out. Still, given the wording of his decommitment, the odds he ever enrolls at OU appear slim at best.
Currently, Vandagriff is rated as the No. 1 player in the state of Georgia and the nation’s No. 1 pro-style quarterback according to 247 Sports. As excited as fans are to see Spencer Rattler run Lincoln Riley’s offense, there was almost an equal amount of anticipation surrounding the prospects of Vandagriff at OU behind center before Wednesday’s news.
With this loss from the 2021 class, Oklahoma now has but two verbal commits, albeit both four-stars.
