AD Joe Castiglione expressed his gratitude for the supremely generous gift, saying “A gift of this kind is paramount to our momentum and we are very appreciative.”
In June of 2018, the OU Board of Regents approved the plans to build a new softball complex, but funding has been the only hurdle keeping the plans from moving forward. Overall, it’s a $25 million project, and if the donations received by the Softball Foundational Donor Program can reach approximately half of that total, everything else can finally be set into motion.
Including this most recent seven-figure donation, about 100 donors have now pledged $4.1 million towards building a sparkling 3,000-seat complex on the northeast corner of Jenkins Ave. and Imhoff Rd.
With a Hall of Fame coach in Patty Gasso, four national championships and 13 Women’s College World Series appearances, there aren’t many softball programs in the nation running at the level that Oklahoma’s is constantly operating.
