Dontae Manning announced his commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners soon after the spring game, but he’s since visited programs like Texas A&M and has announced his decision to de-commit from OU.

Manning announced his commitment to OU in April and was one of the first big names to possibly start the turnaround of Alex Grinch’s new style of defense for the 2020 class. Rumors surrounding Manning and the reopening of his recruitment suggest that visiting big programs that sink quite a bit of effort into recruiting (like Texas A&M) have given him something to think about. This announcement has been coming since mid-June.

As of now, we wouldn’t say the recruitment of Manning is dead by any means. However, some might surmise that the defensive recruiting for Oklahoma for certain high school prospects may be a bit of a wait-and-see situation until they see the product that Alex Grinch and the Oklahoma Sooners put on the field.
