Roughly a month ago, Oklahoma officially hosted Seth McGowan on campus for a visit, and it appears that the Texas running back has found a home in Norman. McGowan, a native of Mesquite, has committed to Lincoln Riley and the Oklahoma Sooners over Georgia, Texas A&M, USC, Alabama and others.
I Rolled The Dice And Watched Them Bet On Everyone But Me... All I Can Say Is Bless Up... Boomer... #AGTG #TMC #FTG @CoachJ_Boulware @LincolnRiley @PoteetRecruits @KodyGroves @rwmclain @smcgowan601 @DP2Nice @malikjefferson pic.twitter.com/PBmfpR2nBb— Seth McGowan ™ (@Sjmcg_28) June 6, 2019
McGowan is a four-star prospect who stands at an athletic 5’11, 215lbs with a frame to bulk up to 225lbs without inhibiting his speed in and out of his cuts. McGowan fits what Oklahoma has in its stable, with favorable comparisons to Kennedy Brooks, Trey Sermon, and maybe even a bit of Rodney Anderson. He has very quick feet and an incredible burst— his straight-line speed is incredible as well as he has soft hands for catching the ball out of the backfield. He’ll need to work on his patience as a runner, but it’s quite common for that to be an issue for even the best high school running back prospects.
McGowan is the second RB commit of the 2020 class and likely closes out that position group. McGowan is the nation’s No. 148 overall prospect and the No. 13 RB, and along with the addition of Brian Darby is keeping the Sooners inside the top 15 of 247’s class composite rankings and No. 1 in the Big 12.
The number of eyeball emojis that are still lingering from Lincoln Riley is still unclear, as one of them just came off the board.
