It appears as if Lincoln Riley has tabbed his guy at quarterback for the future AFTER Spencer Rattler in the highly-touted Brock Vandagriff out of Prince Avenue Christian School (Bogart, GA). Vandagriff is a five star prospect, and according to Rivals, the No. 1 overall recruit for the 2021 class. He has chosen the Oklahoma Sooners over Alabama, Auburn, Florida and others.

Vandagriff is exactly what one would expect from a Lincoln Rileyesque quarterback: he’s tall at 6’3, can make all the throws, and has QB IQ for days. If Spencer Rattler was not already on campus for the Sooners, Vandagriff would likely be picked to start immediately after his 2021 arrival. Some wondered whether or not Riley and Co. would be able to pull the star quarterback from SEC Country, but it became clear he would commit to Oklahoma over the last month with his constant interactions with current and future Sooners as well as the staff.

Vandagriff’s arm strength is a thing of beauty, as is his patience in the pocket (think Trevor Lawrence). There’s not a thing to dislike about his game other than Lincoln Riley having to wait another year or two before he can officially sign his letter of intent. As we’ve said before, the Sooners are off to an unbelievable start for the 2021 class and they may be eyeing the No. 1 spot in that regard. Vandagriff is rated as No. 19 overall player (247Composite for the 2021 class as well as the No. 3 overall QB, and it can be expected to see his ranking rise as he makes the rounds through camps the next year and a half. Oklahoma only has two commits for its 2021 class, but they lead for several of their targets. They currently sit at No. 5 overall in the team recruiting class rankings.
