The Oklahoma Sooners added a late linebacker commitment to their 2020 class in the fall when three-star recruit Shane Whitter flipped his pledge from Wake Forest. There were no surprises from the native of Burlington, North Carolina, on the early signing day, though.

Whitter became a priority for linebackers coach Brian Odom as the numbers in the position group thinned out. Given that star MIKE LB Kenneth Murray seems like a lock to declare early for the NFL, the Sooners will enter the 2020 season with former walk-on Bryan Mead and current WILL LB DaShaun White vying for one starting job on the interior.
Whitter may need more time to develop once he hits campus, but he could find himself rushed into action sooner than expected.
