JUCO defensive lineman Josh Ellison inked his letter of intent to the Oklahoma Sooners on Wednesday, adding to the reinforcements on OU’s defensive front.
A touted prospect out of high school, Ellison planned on attending Texas A&M before being rerouted to Blinn College. The Aggies’ loss now becomes OU’s gain – the 6-3, 295-pound DL ranks in the top 10 JUCOs in nation per the 247 Composite Ratings and is the No. 2 DT (behind fellow OU signee Perrion Winfrey).
Between Ellison and Winfrey, defensive line coach Calvin Thibodeaux deserves plaudits for landing a pair of seasoned players who can contribute right away for the Sooners. The big question now regarding Ellison is if he will end up at nose tackle or shed weight to play three-tech defensive tackle.
