The Oklahoma Sooners are going to have to find replacements for several receiver spots in 2020, so creating capable depth is paramount during this recruiting cycle. Fortunately for OU, three-star WR Trevon West signed his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, helping to shore up one of the few concerns for what’s expected to be another high-powered offensive attack.
More on West, he’s an Arlington, Texas product headed to Norman. Coming out of Lamar HS, he’s been rated as the No. 87 player in the state, the No. 106 WR, and the No. 676 player overall from a national perspective. Although he’s been lightly recruited compared to some of his other 2020 classmates who have signed with OU, he’s managed to pick up offers from Power Five programs such as Texas Tech, Minnesota, Illinois and more.
Standing at 6’0”, West isn’t a towering presence on the outside, but he’s also no slouch. For his high school team, he was asked to use his speed to burn DBs down the sidelines, and he developed a knack for successfully high-pointing the ball and coming down with it. He even Mossed a player or two along the way. Still, with what’s returning at the receiver position next season, such as Charleston Rambo, Jadon Haselwood, Theo Wease and Trejan Bridges, it won’t be easy for any newcomers to crack the rotation.
