Lincoln Riley and the Oklahoma Sooners hosted prime 2020 prospect Reggie Grimes during a dominant defensive performance vs. West Virginia in October, and it appears as if the nation’s No. 54 overall prospect has finally found a home in Norman, Okla.
On Thanksgiving, OU secured the commitment from Reggie Grimes over programs such as Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, Ohio State, South Carolina and others.

Grimes — classified as a weak-side defensive end — has a frame that leaves him with loads of potential. The Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood product stands at 6’4, 244 lbs. and played on both the strong-side and weak-side edge in high school. I don’t see him having the quick-twitch fibers that a Nik Bonitto or any other Sooner RUSH LB, so it’s safe to forecast Grimes as a strong-side defensive end in Alex Grinch’s defense. Having said that, the sky’s the limit for him in that spot.
Grimes was not necessarily expected to be a Sooner commit as of last week, but Grinch’s work with Oklahoma is turning heads for high school prospects as he is continuing to add to the 2020 recruiting class and gain more quality depth. The Sooners have 19 total commitments and are No. 8 in the 247Composite Class Rankings.
