It happened again, folks.
For the second time this week and the fourth time in five games, the Oklahoma Sooners didn’t hold a halftime lead. This time, it came against one of the worst teams in college basketball — the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks, who entered the game ranked No. 348 in KenPom’s efficiency ratings.
However, for the fifth time in as many games, OU came out firing in the second half and ended up winning comfortably. The 91-64 victory improved the team’s record to 5-0 on the season.

After trailing 38-37 at the half, Oklahoma shot 18/27 (66.7 percent) from the field while holding the Hawks to 10/30 shooting in the second. Unexpectedly (and impressively) enough, the Sooners were led in second-half scoring by freshman Victor Iwuakor, who tallied 11 of his 13 points after the break.
Kristian Doolittle added 10 of his own in the second to lead the team in scoring with 18. The senior forward from Edmond Memorial High School went 7/7 from the floor with six rebounds, three assists and three steals, putting together a four consecutive solid performance after missing the season opener. Brady Manek (16, 6/11, 1/3 3PT), Austin Reaves (14, 6/9) and De’Vion Harmon (10, 4/7, 5 AST) also hit double figures on the evening.
The Sooners will now head up to the Sprint Center in Kansas City, where they will face the Stanford Cardinal on Monday evening before playing either Missouri or Butler on Tuesday. The Stanford game is scheduled to tip off at 8:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2, with the Tuesday game being played on an ESPN network to be announced.
