With the 115th game between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns looming large this Saturday, it got me to thinking "what are my favorite Red River Showdown memories?" I have come up with the following in no particular order.
- Domique Whaley scoring a 64-yard TD run that forced Bevo to turn his back the Horns in 2011.
- Watching the Sooners smoke the Longhorns by six scores in 2012.
- Overcoming both the Texas team and the refs to win in 2017 in Baker Mayfield's senior season.
- Tre Brown's safety to help clinch the 2018 Big 12 Championship Game and revenge against Tom Herman and Co.
Before you ask I am too young to have any live memories from 2000 or 2001 RRS so that's why they are not included in my list, if I had any memories of them happening I would have absolutely included them. I have seen the Roy Williams Superman play more times than I can count though if that helps. I have also never had the pleasure to attend an OU-Texas game in person but I hope to cure that sometime in the next few years. It's definitely on my bucket list. What are some of your favorite RRS memories? Share them in the comments! Hopefully we'll all have a few (or several) more after this weekend.
