A few things of note:
- Following its 31-12 win at Kansas State, Baylor is in the top 25 for the first time since 2016 — Jim Grobe’s season as interim head coach.
- Georgia and Ohio State are tied at No. 3, which is the poll’s first tie within the top three since Sept. 20, 2015, when TCU and Ole Miss shared the No. 3 spot.
- Oklahoma and Texas have faced each other as AP top-10 opponents 17 times in their history, and it would’ve been a 18th if not for Penn State edging Texas in voting points by a tally of 958-947. It also would’ve been the first AP top-10 matchup between the schools at the Cotton Bowl since 2008. For the 2018 Big 12 Championship, Texas was ranked No. 9 in the AP Poll but No. 14 in the CFP rankings.
