Oklahoma Sooners football: Sooners drop one spot to No. 7 in latest AP Poll

Apparently OU’s 66 points were not enough to impress AP voters.

The Oklahoma Sooners put a 33-point beatdown on Baylor and subsequently dropped one spot in the AP Poll in a 24-hour span. The Sooners were leapfrogged by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish after Notre Dame’s big win over the college football equivalent of beige wallpaper, Stanford. OU held steady at No. 5 in the Amway Coaches Poll.

Friendly reminder — the AP and Coaches Polls obviously don’t actually matter in the grand scheme of the season. They’re just something for us to get #MadOnline about every week until the actual CFB Playoff Rankings are released.

Elsewhere in the Big 12, West Virginia jumped three spots to No. 9 after a road win over Texas Tech, Texas fell one spot to No. 19, and Oklahoma State found it’s way back into the top 25 after a one-week absence.

Here are both polls in their entirety (Big 12 teams in bold).
