When the Oklahoma Sooners announced their initial depth chart last August, folks were a bit surprised to see the name of walk-on Myles Tease listed along with Mykel Jones as a potential starter at the Y (slot) receiver position. After playing in 13 games and scoring a 46-yard touchdown West Virginia, Tease is now on scholarship. Check out this video released by OU football:
Hard work pays off.

Congratulations @MylesTease4! You earned it. #OUDNA pic.twitter.com/eEE63Aol7U
Tease transferred to Oklahoma in 2016 after spending his first two collegiate seasons at UCO. The Tulsa Booker T. Washington product then made a bit of a name for himself on the practice squad while he was sitting out per NCAA transfer rules. That work ethic and attention to detail paid off, as the coaching staff trusted him enough to give him a chance to contribute as a redshirt junior.
Tease did catch one pass of five yards against UTEP, but his other catch will be the one he remembers for the rest of his life.
Collegiate athletics and the system surrounding it justifiably bring out plenty of cynicism in many of us, but it’s impossible to not be inspired by something like this. This is simply an incredible moment for Myles and his family.
Never give up, effort won’t betray you. https://t.co/EOtzVlweLC
