After defeating Texas with a complete team effort — and therefore defeating every team on the schedule — the Oklahoma Sooners have been rewarded with a berth in the College Football Playoff. The team that lost two games has been left out, as has the team that lost to Purdue by 29. It’s almost as if this whole thing wasn’t very complicated at all.

The Sooners will now shift their focus to the Orange Bowl, where they will face the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. ‘Bama is still ‘Bama, but they proved this weekend that they’re far from invincible, and I think we’re in for a hell of a game. Additionally, we’re going to a have matchup of the top two Heisman Trophy finishers, so this matchup is going to have plenty of juice.
This will be Oklahoma’s 20th appearance in the Orange Bowl and the 21st bowl game in South Florida (taking the BCS Championship game vs. Florida into the equation), with the Sooners winning 12 of those games. This season’s matchup will take place Dec. 29 at Hard Rock Stadium and be televised by ESPN, with the winner playing at Levi’s Stadium (Santa Clara, Calif.) on Jan. 7.
