All eyes were fixated on the announcements of defensive back Jeremiah Criddell and defensive end Marcus Stripling as the first day of the Early Signing Period went on, but the Oklahoma Sooners have also earned a surprise signature from Arlington (TX) Bowie athlete Ty DeArman.

DeArman, who stands at 6’0” and 190, had been committed to the Arizona State Sun Devils since June, but OU has apparently offered the guy and pulled a flip at the 11th hour. Herm Edwards can’t be too thrilled.

The three-star prospect projects as a safety for the Sooners, and those who crave physicality are unlikely to be disappointed. He’s someone who could likely make a fairly quick impact on special teams before potentially cracking the rotation on defense.
DeArman joins blue-chip recruits Jeremiah Criddell, Jamal Morris, Jaden Davis and Woodi Washington in OU’s 2019 DB class. Oklahoma now has 22 members in its 2019 class, which is now firmly in the top 10 of the 247Composite Team Rankings.
