Early Signing Period 2019: 3-star OL Marcus Alexander signs with Oklahoma

Bill Bedenbaugh adds another road-grater to an already deep pool of offensive line talent.

The Oklahoma Sooners were recently recognized with the Joe Moore Award for fielding the nation’s top offensive line, and the talent continues to pour in with the addition of 3-star OL Marcus Alexander, who had been committed since June. On Wednesday, he signed his National Letter of Intent to make it all official.

The Sunnyvale, Texas native isn’t the largest nor the most decorated O-line signee in the Sooners’ 2019 class, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find a guy who enjoys pancake-blocking his opponents into the turf more than Alexander. The nation’s 45th ranked offensive guard also received offers from Missouri, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech among others.

With Oklahoma having so much young talent waiting in the wings along the offensive line, combined with the fact that Alexander will likely need a season or two before he’s ready to compete at the P5 level, don’t expect a major impact from the promising guard right away. Fortunately for all parties involved, he’ll have the luxury of working on his strength in the weight room under Bennie Wylie while studying O-line fundamentals under the genius of Bill Bedenbaugh.
