Prior to this week, Oklahoma City’s Marcus Major was the lone back in a stout 2019 class for the Oklahoma Sooners. That is no longer the case, as JUCO prospect Rhamondre Stevenson has announced his intention to attend OU over Texas, USC and others.
Lincoln Riley typically lets everyone know about an impending commitment via Twitter, but he was a bit late on the draw this time. We’ll allow it!

Better late than never!— Lincoln Riley (@LincolnRiley) December 17, 2018
The Cerritos College (Norwalk, Calif.) product and Las Vegas native is a big, powerful back (6’0”, 235) who should complement next year’s group quite nicely while also adding some quality depth. As we’ve all seen this season, depth at his position often takes a hit in an instant, so a second back was an absolute priority in this class. However, Stevenson is a hell of a lot more than just a body, as he certainly has the skillset (and pass-blocking ability) to earn plenty of snaps in this offense.
Oklahoma’s 2019 class is now up to 19 commitments — 10 on offense, nine on defense — and currently sits are No. 8 in the 247Composite Team Rankings.
