As Sooner Nation was still celebrating the spectacular Kyler Murray Heisman Trophy win from the night before, a wild Week 14 was kicking off across the NFL on Sunday, a weekend in which many former Oklahoma Sooners found success and the end zone.
To lead off the headlines was, of course, Baker Mayfield, who led the Cleveland Browns to a big home win over Cam Newton and the Panthers by a score of 26-20. The bounce-back win following the disappointing loss in Houston was the Browns’ fifth of the season, eclipsing the mark of four victories through the previous three seasons combined. The team has gone 3-2 following the coaching change from no-bro-hug getting Hue Jackson to the seemingly reformed Bountygate conspirator Gregg Williams.
Finishing the afternoon with 238 yards and a touchdown on 18-of-22 passing (126.9 QBR), Baker was his usual efficient self, dropping dimes effortlessly all over the field, including the below rocket that was spectacularly launched to and caught by Jarvis Landry in the end zone.

Unlike last week in Houston, there would be no turnovers committed by the 2017 Heisman Trophy winner from Oklahoma on this afternoon, either.

The Browns, now sitting at 5-7-1, somehow find themselves in fringe playoff contention as they head to Denver this upcoming Saturday to face the Broncos on the NFL Network.

Chiefs running back Damien Williams cashed in big with more playing time following the recent dismissal of starter Kareem Hunt from the team. The former OU and Red River Rivalry record setter came through big with two touchdowns in the Chiefs’ playoff-clinching overtime win against the Ravens.

Williams, who had largely been a special-teams regular for KC, not only rushed for a score but caught the game-tying touchdown from the league’s leading MVP candidate Patrick Mahomes.

Williams finished with 14 yards and the touchdown on eight carries along with 16 yards and a score on four receptions on the afternoon. It’s great to see Damien making the most of his opportunities, which hopefully continue to grow as the season reaches its climax.
Kenny Stills found the end zone for the fourth time this season in a thrilling win over the Patriots. Catching eight passes on a team-high nine targets, Kenny finished with a season-high 135 yards in this huge W over divisional rivals/Sith lords New England.

Stills’ last catch of the ballgame also kickstarted a legendary finish in Miami, one that will be talked about and played over and over until the end of time.

Ironically enough, Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill revealed the name of the trick play was, in fact, “Boise”. Maybe this play, against the universal bad guys from New England, can finally replace the nauseating replays of that disastrous 2007 Fiesta Bowl in the all-time football archives.

Joe Mixon rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries and added 27 more yards on five receptions in the Bengals’ loss to the Chargers in Los Angeles. Jordan Evans recorded three solo tackles in the Week 14 road effort.

Adrian Peterson and Washington were utterly destroyed by the G-Men in Week 14. AD managed only 16 rushing yards on 10 carries and one catch for three yards in the 40-16 defeat to their divisional rivals in New York. Life without Alex Smith is rough.
Sterling Shepard on the other side caught only two passes for 17 yards but did find the end zone for the third time this season in the Giants’ big win.

Dede Westbrook also scored for the Jaguars on Thursday night on one of the catches of the season. Dede’s score was one of the few highlights for the Jaguars in their debacle against the Titans.
Finishing with a team-high 88 yards on seven catches, Westbrook’s touchdown was possibly the closest call I’ve ever seen. His foot did, in fact, drag the green by the most microscopic of margins — so kudos the officials for getting this one right.

Blake Bell added two catches for 16 yards in the 30-9 loss for the Jaguars.
Devante Bond grabbed one solo tackle in the Buccaneers loss to the Saints, who clinched the NFC South division title. Teammate and co-captain Gerald McCoy added one assisted tackle in the effort.
