Things had been a bit quiet on the “BOOM” front for the 2019 class since the beginning of the season, but some noise was made Monday evening when JUCO OT Finley Felix announced his commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners. The Coffeyville CC product and Fort Meyers (Fla.) native also has offers from Iowa State, Missouri, Ole Miss, West Virginia and others.

Felix took his official visit to Oklahoma during the weekend of the Baylor game, and Lincoln Riley tweeted a set of eyeballs two days later. The next set wasn’t tweeted until the weekend of the K-State game (which was for 2020 DB Jalen Huff), so it’s not too difficult to connect the dots.
This marks the second consecutive cycle in which Oklahoma has gone to the Kansas JUCO ranks to grab a talented offensive lineman, as Independence CC lineman Tramonda Moore signed with the Sooners in 2018. The connection with Moore — an OKC native from John Marshall HS — had been there for some time, but it’s become apparent that mining the Jayhawk Conference for 1-2 prospects per cycle could become a trend. In addition to Felix, OU also has a commitment from 2019 Butler CC DE Jacoby Jones.
The 6’5”, 325-pound Felix is yet another nice addition to OU’s 2019 offensive line class, which already includes four-star tackle Stacey Wilkins, four-star guard EJ Ndoma-Ogar and three-star guard Marcus Alexander. So what’s one thing that stands out about the newest member of the group? Like many of Bill Bedenbaugh’s guys, this is a tenacious football player who loves to finish blocks.
Oklahoma is now up to 19 total commitments in its 2019 class, which currently sits at No. 6 in the 247Composite rankings. Bedlam weekend could produce a bit more action on that front, as OU will be hosting a number of high-profile prospects — both committed and uncommitted.
