On another anticlimactic evening, the Oklahoma Sooners are yet again sitting at No. 6 in the College Football Playoff rankings.

While the top remains unchanged, one positive development is the fact that West Virginia and Texas are both positioned within the top 15, meaning that Oklahoma’s potential for resume-building wins is quite high down the stretch. Additionally, Iowa State remains inside the top 25 after falling to Texas this past Saturday, which also doesn’t hurt.

When asked about Oklahoma’s defense potentially impacting their standing with the committee, chairman Rob Mullens seemed to indicate that the nature of OU’s wins likely aren’t going to sink them.

Thank you, Kyler.

With Notre Dame easily taking care of Syracuse and Ohio State narrowly avoiding the upset against Maryland, OU fans are undoubtedly — in the event of winning out — preparing to become temporary fans of the Northwestern Wildcats. NU wasn’t able to get it done against the Irish a few weeks ago, but they’ll have a chance to redeem themselves in Indianapolis against the Big Ten East champ.
