Happy Friday, friends and fans of the Oklahoma Sooners!
OU’s Heisman Trophy campaign for Kyler Murray is officially underway, and the theme for K1 throws it back to 1985 Heisman winner Bo Jackson.

If you’ve been around long enough to recall, Jackson teamed up with Nike back in the day with the slogan “Bo Knows”, and like Murray today, Jackson was also a superstar athlete who played both football and baseball.

I don’t know about you, but after checking out KylerKnows.com, I feel the need to spend a LOT more time in the gym, specifically near the dumbbell area. In all seriousness, the case for Kyler is incredibly strong, and strengthening by the week. His stats are off the charts, and it’s becoming increasingly apparent how invaluable he is to the team. I shudder to think what this season would look like if he hadn’t been performing the way he has been on a regular basis.

One way or another, what happens over the next three weekends will determine who brings home the 2018 Heisman Trophy. A lot of college football folks still believe the award is Tua Tagovailoa’s to lose, but it seems like Murray is gaining ground fast with every passing Saturday. I know I’ll be watching intently to see if No. 1 can claim No. 7.
Now onto this week’s Friday edition of Hot Links! The story of Orlando Brown is still incredible, Adrian Peterson is feeling healthier, Ed Oliver goes off on Major Applewhite and more!

- Joel Klatt also knows Kyler Murray’s value to the team and as an individual player. This is some pretty good stuff from Klatt, and certainly makes the Heisman race more compelling.
"You can argue that Kyler is not only the best player in CFB, but he's also the most valuable player to his team, & he's having to play his best at the most opportune times."@joelklatt says @OU_Football's Kyler Murray is making a strong case to win the Heisman. pic.twitter.com/mrAyEI9D9I

- Here’s an updated list of possible defensive coordinators that Oklahoma could consider bringing in following the conclusion of the 2018 season. Personally, I’m leaning towards Iowa State’s Jon Heacock because he’s already proven he knows how to defend the best Big 12 offenses successfully multiple years in a row, and with better talent, he should theoretically have more success.
- Through Week 11, Trey Sermon has graded out as the top running back in the nation. Much of that credit is due to Sermon’s offseason improvements and him stepping up since Rodney Anderson went down, but don’t forget about the offensive line he’s working with. All those factors make a pretty lethal combo, as you’ve seen over the last month.

- Brendan Radley-Hiles came to Oklahoma as a corner, but was moved to nickel in the spring. Is that the best fit for the former five-star recruit, or should ‘Bookie’ move back to CB?
- The story of Orlando Brown has been told here and elsewhere many times, but watching this incredible short put together by NFL Films really puts into perspective of just how heartbreaking and uplifting the story of Zeus and the son who followed in his footsteps is. This is absolutely amazing.
.@ZEUS__78 hopes to carry on his father's legacy as he follows his footsteps in the NFL.

- Adrian Peterson has gone through a bit of a revival in Washington, but now he says he’s starting to feel healthier. I knew this man was already superhuman, but now I’m thinking he’s from another planet. Way to go, AD.

- The music video you never knew you needed is here. After Baker Mayfield woke up feeling dangerous last Sunday, his words have gone viral to the point of becoming mixed into a hilarious and epic tune that’s sure to get stuck in your head.
Woke up... feelin’ ... dangerous

- Sherri Coale’s hoops squad is off to a strong 2-0 start after taking down Northwestern State 93-56. Four players scored double digits and the defense locked down the Demons from start to finish.

- This is awesome! Brady Manek and Christian James threw it way back to the Larry Bird and Michael Jordan trick shot contest commercial with one of their own. I just want to know if Manek makes that last one, because dang that’s far.

Around the Sports World
- Houston’s Ed Oliver is a virtual lock for a top 10 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, but he’s been hampered this season with injuries. On Thursday night, he didn’t suit up against Tulane, but he wore a coat that apparently was for active players only. When the coaches told him he couldn’t wear it, and tried to remove it off of him, he didn’t respond very positively.

- Les Miles and LSU agreed to a $1.5 million buyout that officially takes the Tigers off the hook. The buyout also allows the ‘Madhatter’ to pursue another head coaching job freely without any stipulations, so it’s a win-win for both sides.
- Up-tempo offenses in college football are nothing new. In fact, teams have been doing it for the last decade, with more coaches adapting every season. Something that gets over-looked is how the increased pace of the game affects TV broadcasters and networks.
- Division III’s Grinnell College took 88 three-pointers in a game, and made 42 of them! I don’t know what’s more amazing, the number of attempts or the number of makes, but either way, it’s an NCAA record.
- Here’s a video of Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty enjoying the snowfall. On a related note, I will most likely have nightmares of this tonight because that thing is terrifyingly creepy.

- After extensive research (burger eating), Stanich’s in Portland, Oregon was deemed to produce the best burger in America by writer Kevin Alexander. Months later, the fame of the No. 1 label led to the downfall of the booming burger joint. Now from the viewpoint of Alexander is this essay on the questions of how and why this happened, and what this means for the future of list culture.
- Actor and musician Jared Leto teased his fans with this video of him shaving off his beard in preparation for his upcoming film Morbius the Living Vampire. Like the recently released Venom film, Morbius is a Marvel anti-hero and part of Sony’s developing spider-verse. Also like Venom, this film won’t actually include Spider-Man. Production is currently underway, and while a release date has yet to be determined, it’ll likely hit theaters in 2020. Just a heads up — there’s light profanity in the video, so maybe don’t blare it at the office.
