Former Oklahoma Sooners QB Baker Mayfield has had a busy week to say the least. Not only has he been in Mobile in front of scouts in preparation for the Senior Bowl, he’s also having to deal with the fact that his mother has been in the hospital. After several days of discussion about Mayfield potentially not playing in Saturday’s game, it appears that he will indeed to take the field (if only for a little while).

Speaking of his eventful week, all of this has brought the trolls out of the woodwork. Some have even had the audacity to question Mayfield’s justification for his tardiness.

Baker has by all accounts been nothing short of exceptional this week during practices at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Does that surprise any of you? It probably shouldn’t. Anyway, he received a bit of recognition from Pro Football Focus, who named him Quarterback of the Week.

The praise, of course, doesn’t stop there.

“If I hear another guy compare this guy to Manziel, get outta here! Let’s talk about Drew Brees! He’s six-foot! Let’s talk about Russell Wilson! He’s 5’10”! This guy’s a player! He don’t have half the problems Manziel had off the field”.

Charley Casserly is the man.

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner isn’t the only Sooner in Mobile this week, as Ogbonnia Okoronkwo and Dimitri Flowers are also down there with the purpose of making a good impression. All three Sooners will be playing for the North on Saturday.

“Some fullback love. OU’s Dimitri Flowers with a sweet one-handed grab downfield against NDSU’s Nick DeLuca. Flowers has done well as a lead blocker, too. Can definitely hear the pop when he’s in there.”
