Former Oklahoma Sooners QB Baker Mayfield has had a busy week to say the least. Not only has he been in Mobile in front of scouts in preparation for the Senior Bowl, he’s also having to deal with the fact that his mother has been in the hospital. After several days of discussion about Mayfield potentially not playing in Saturday’s game, it appears that he will indeed to take the field (if only for a little while).
Baker Mayfield has made a firm decision to play in the Senior Bowl, I'm told, contrary to some speculation around Mobile this week.

Speaking of his eventful week, all of this has brought the trolls out of the woodwork. Some have even had the audacity to question Mayfield’s justification for his tardiness.

Comparisons of Baker Mayfield to Johnny Manziel are fair and appropriate -- not lazy analysis https://t.co/gpFjkXqqDj

Baker has by all accounts been nothing short of exceptional this week during practices at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Does that surprise any of you? It probably shouldn’t. Anyway, he received a bit of recognition from Pro Football Focus, who named him Quarterback of the Week.

The praise, of course, doesn’t stop there.
“If I hear another guy compare this guy to Manziel, get outta here! Let’s talk about Drew Brees! He’s six-foot! Let’s talk about Russell Wilson! He’s 5’10”! This guy’s a player! He don’t have half the problems Manziel had off the field”.

I don't know how you can come away with a negative review of Baker Mayfield from Senior Bowl week.

The great Louis Riddick on #OU's star QB at the Senior Bowl: "When it comes time for 11-on-11 nobody does it as good as Baker Mayfield. He's been everything as advertised. People are gonna try & poke holes against this kid. But you'd be making a mistake to bang against this kid."

Rick Neuheisel calls Baker Mayfield a ‘savant’ — and the Broncos’ best option at QB
The reigning Heisman Trophy winner isn’t the only Sooner in Mobile this week, as Ogbonnia Okoronkwo and Dimitri Flowers are also down there with the purpose of making a good impression. All three Sooners will be playing for the North on Saturday.
