Oklahoma Sooners football: OU up to No. 5 in latest AP Poll

The latest AP Top 25 Poll was released today, and the Oklahoma Sooners moved up two spots to No. 5 after being ranked No. 7 in the preseason poll. The Sooners’ week 1 performance against UTEP helped them leapfrog Florida State and USC. The new rankings also pave the way for a top-five matchup in Columbus this weekend, as the Ohio State Buckeyes currently sit at No. 2.

Three other Big 12 teams are currently ranked in the top 25. Oklahoma State moved down one spot to No. 11, Kansas State moved up one spot to No. 19 and TCU, who was unranked in the preseason poll, made its top-25 debut at No. 23. West Virginia fell out of the rankings following a loss to Virginia Tech, and I think we all know what happened to Texas

Additionally, Oklahoma moved up two spots to No. 6 in the latest edition of the USA Today Coaches Poll. One thing that sticks about this poll is the fact that there isn’t a single Texas school included in the top 25. LOL!
