The Oklahoma Sooners announced via Twitter/press release that the football squad will wear their “Rough Rider” uniforms this weekend for their game in Waco against the Baylor Bears. OU will go with the all-cream combination this time around.

This marks the seventh time since 2014 that the Sooners have worn the “Rough Rider” uniforms, and it’ll be their second time to wear this particular combination (the other occasion being at Kansas in 2015). The Sooners are 5-1 while wearing the “Rough Riders”, with the lone loss coming at home against Baylor in 2014.
I’m a fan of all of the road combinations I’ve seen, so I have nothing bad to say about these. I will, however, say that I prefer the crimson helmet, which hasn’t been seen since last season’s home game against Kansas State. I honestly think OU’s crimson wood-grain helmet is one of the best alternate helmets in college football. There are a bunch of folks — even within the fanbase — who don’t like it, but it’s pretty slick to me.
Anyway, thumbs up from me on this particular combination. Boomer Sooner.
