The Justin, Texas, native has chosen Oklahoma out of a large list of big offers.

The Oklahoma Sooners have received some extremely positive news on the recruiting front, as Justin, Texas, four-star offensive tackle Darrell Simpson has announced his commitment to OU. Oklahoma’s primary challengers in Simpson’s recruitment have been TCU and Oklahoma State, but the Justin, Texas, native also has received offers from Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and Texas A&M.

Oklahoma already has commitments from five-star offensive tackle Brey Walker and talented JUCO OL Tramonda Moore in 2018, so it’s abundantly clear that Bill Bedenbaugh is once again thriving as a recruiter. As well as Bedenbaugh and OU have recruited at tackle, guard and center in recent years, the offensive front should be a position of strength for years to come.

Standing at 6’7” and weighing in at around 330, Simpson is a mountain of a man. The size, strength and athleticism are clearly there for him, so he has a chance to really develop into something special once Coach B gets his hands on him.

Simpson is Oklahoma’s 17th commitment of the 2018 class and is the fourth overall ChampU BBQ attendee to commit to OU since the event (second for 2018). Oklahoma now has 10 commits on the offensive side of the ball, including three offensive line commits.
