Oklahoma Sooners Football Recruiting: 2019 WR Jeffery Carter commits to Oklahoma

The Aledo, Texas, WR was in Norman today for the ChampU BBQ.

The Oklahoma Sooners have received another high-profile offensive commit for the class of 2019, this time in the form of wide receiver Jeffery Carter. The Aledo, Texas, wide receiver was one of dozens of recruits in Norman Saturday for the ChampU BBQ, and the guy has clearly come away impressed.

Carter joins early commits Spencer Rattler and Austin Stogner in the 2019 class. Touting early offers from programs such as Baylor, Georgia, Oklahoma State, Oregon and Penn State, Carter is someone who will be getting quite a bit of attention between now February of 2019. There certainly isn’t any finality in this (Arjei Henderson and Theo Wease were previously committed in this class and have since opened recruitment), but at the very least it shows that Oklahoma is his favorite school at the moment.

If the Sooners do hang on to Carter, they’ll get getting a quick and athletic receiver. Don’t let the fact that he’s only six feet tall fool you, either — Carter has a lot of length and is adept at going up and high-pointing the football. Because of this, I think it’s likely that he finds a home on the outside at the next level.

We’ll have to wait and see if any more BBQ attendees pull the trigger anytime soon, but I think it’s safe to say that the event can already be deemed a success.
