We’re 75 days away from the home opener against UTEP, so today we give a shoutout to versatile Oklahoma Sooners offensive lineman Dru Samia.
Samia came to Oklahoma in 2015 as a four-star offensive guard out of Danville, Calif. However, Oklahoma had a need at tackle that season, and Samia was able to fill in right off the bat as a starter for the 2015 Sooners. After a successful campaign as a true freshman that included a berth in the College Football Playoff, Oklahoma’s offensive line was attempting to find it’s groove at the beginning of the 2016 season. Samia started at right tackle in Oklahoma’s season opener against Houston, but he would be moved inside to guard for the home opener against Louisiana-Monroe and has been there ever since.
Dru Samia consistently got not nice movement in the Sugar Bowl. Comes off low, runs feet. OG to watch in 2017. https://t.co/LLUqHTDnfL

In 2017, Samia is one of five returning starters along the Oklahoma offensive line, a unit that is considered by many to be the best in the country. With two years of total experience at multiple positions under his belt, Samia will be looked to as a leader along the line for the foreseeable future. I personally think he’s a strong candidate for one of the two offensive captain positions for upcoming season.
