Lon Kruger and his staff have received some very welcome news on Sunday, as four-star shooting guard Jamal Bieniemy has announced his commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners. The 2018 prospect has chosen the Sooners over Oklahoma State, LSU and Creighton.

The combo guard from Katy, Texas (Tompkins HS), was in Norman for an unofficial visit this weekend, and that visit must’ve gone about as well as well as it could have!
Bieniemy, who is listed as the No. 8 player in the state of Texas, is a smooth operator out on the court. It’s not terribly common to see a player who is so under-control with the ball in his hands, and I could easily see him taking over the starting PG role after Trae Young leaves Norman (even though he’s listed as a shooting guard). He also has the length to really be disruptive as a defender.
All in all, this is a very nice development on the recruiting front for Lon Kruger and his staff. Bieniemy isn’t necessarily a superstar, but he’s definitely someone who can be a very productive multi-year player at the collegiate level. This also continues Lon’s recent run of success in the state of Texas and, in particular, the Houston area.
Bieniemy is Oklahoma’s first commitment of the 2018 class.
