The Louisville Cardinals, who are the No. 7 overall seed in the tournament, currently hold an overall record of 47-10 and were the ACC regular season champions with a conference record of 23-6. Xavier, the Louisville Regional’s three-seed, snuck into the NCAA Tournament by winning the Big East Tournament.
The Sooners, who currently hold a record of 34-22, are looking to rebound from a rough six-day stretch in Oklahoma City. After take two out of three form No. 6 overall seed TCU, OU has lost four consecutive games to Oklahoma State (twice), Texas and TCU, respectively. Sub-par pitching has doomed the Sooners during their rough stretches this season, and they’ll need much better outings from the entire staff if they plan on making a run to Omaha.
The Louisville Regional is aligned with the Lexington Regional in the 64-team bracket, so an escape from Louisville would likely result in a date with the Kentucky Wildcats in Super Regional play.
Oklahoma’s Friday matchup against Xavier is scheduled for 1 PM CT, and it can be viewed on WatchESPN.
