Forty-seven years ago, former Oklahoma Sooners football player Bob Kalsu became the only American pro athlete to be killed in Vietnam. (You can read about him in this 2014 SI profile or this 2013 Grantland piece, and I highly recommend you do.) And while Kalsu will always be remembered for setting aside his NFL career to serve his country, he’s just one of millions who have fought, and thousands who have died, protecting our nation and way of life.
Today we salute all the Sooners and Americans who have sacrificed their lives for all the bankers, lawyers, laborers and college football bloggers back home. Thank you.

- OU baseball is heading to Kentucky for a regional against Louisville, Xavier and Radford. Louisville is the No. 7 overall seed.
- Our own Jack Shields broke down Samaje Perine’s game for our Redskins fan friends over at Hogs Haven.
- Based on Vegas over/unders for the 2017 season, Oklahoma is predicted to meet No. 1 Alabama in the Sugar Bowl for a spot in the CFP Championship Game. Ah, the Sugar Bowl....
- No surprises, but ‘Bama, FSU and Ohio State lead the college pack with a 10.5 over/under. Oklahoma is part of the second tier, at 9.5 wins, with Penn State, USC, Wisconsin and Washington. As the article points out, OU is a good bet for the over.
- As many of you have likely been hearing for a few days, Texas quarterback commit and could-have-been Sooner Casey Thompson is transferring from Southmoore High to Newcastle (NEWCASTLE!) for his senior season.
- Mark Rogers had a chat with 2017 Sooner recruit Adrian Ealy and discussed his decision to come to OU.
- OU men’s golf finished just one stroke behind Vanderbilt on the leaderboard and easily advanced to the fourth round of stroke play at NCAAs.

National Links:
- Just because it’s not the North doesn’t mean Nashville can’t be “Hockeytown.” The Preds-Pens Stanley Cup Final begins tonight at 7 p.m.
- This article argues that SEC quarterbacks no longer take a backseat to anyone. Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, Mason Rudolph, J.T. Barrett, Luke Falk and Jake Browning respectfully disagree.
- After a good long look at Tiger Woods’ DUI mugshot this morning, I think it’s safe to say he’s not winning another Major.
- Richard Sherman is making good on a promise to pay for this girl’s college because she made the honor roll.
‘STICK TO SPORTS!’
- Last year when I heard Netflix’s Bloodline was cancelled, I assumed they meant immediately. So naturally I was surprised when Season 3 popped up this week.
- Thank goodness for this robot, which will touch the sun for NASA so we don’t have to.
