ESPN announced on Thursday that Oklahoma’s Sept. 9 game at Ohio State will be played at 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC.

The Oklahoma Sooners will be looking for payback after a 45-24 loss to the Buckeyes in Norman last season. Both teams are consensus top-10 teams in the preseason polls this season, and both return starting quarterbacks who led their teams to New Year’s Six bowls in 2016.

The two teams have met three times in their history, with Ohio State winning two of those contents. The road team has come out on top in each matchup.

I actually think Oklahoma has a decent shot to come out on top this time. OU had issues at every level defensively in last season’s matchup, but things seem more promising tis time around. OU’s pass rush should be better, Caleb Kelly and the young Oklahoma linebackers have a chance to help tremendously in the running game, and Parnell Motley could be the answer opposite Jordan Thomas at cornerback. A win would put Oklahoma well on its way to a second playoff berth in three years, but a loss (a close one, at least) wouldn’t exactly eliminate them from the discussion. Either way, I’m really looking forward to this matchup and (hopefully) a trip to a great sports venue.
