There are some things that, when seen in the wild, require instant photography, like a celebrity, a bald eagle, or a double rainbow.
Oklahoma State Cowboys coach Mike Gundy’s mullet — the Arkansas Waterfall, if you will — is one such thing. It’s entirely possible that Gundy’s hairdo has eclipsed himself in celebrity.
Here’s an example of a post I see nearly weekly on Twitter. It’s hard to look away from, honestly — maybe in the same way that one can’t look away from a car wreck:
As a Sooner lifer and OU grad, I have every reason to hate Gundy and his hair. But I simply can’t. There’s something wonderful to me about his disregard for convention in an age of sanitized, PR power-washed coaches. It’s cavalier.
Honestly, I wish I had the nerve to do it myself.
Before you answer, I’m asking you to lay down all affiliations and biases. Have an honest dialogue with yourself on this crucial issue. There is no wrong answer.
Do you respect Mike Gundy’s mullet game?
