The Oklahoma Sooners women’s gymnastics team secured its second straight national championship on Saturday evening, topping LSU, Florida, Utah, UCLA and Alabama for its third title in four seasons.

Freshman sensation Maggie Nichols had the highlight of the night when she scored a perfect 10 on the beam for the third time this season, coming through in the clutch to bolster OU’s chances. OU ultimately set a new Super Six record with a 49.700 team score on the beam.

OU has now finished the 2017 season undefeated and has won 67 consecutive meets. Nichols, Chayse Capps, AJ Jackson, Stefani Catour and Nicole Lehrmann all picked up All-America honors for their performance this year.
The Sooner men will compete for their own chance at a third straight national title next Friday and Saturday in West Point, N.Y.
