The speedy RB from IMG Academy has been high on the Sooners for quite some time.

IMG Academy running back T.J. Pledger released his list top schools, and the Sooners have made the cut along with Clemson, Georgia, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon, Tennessee and UCLA. Pledger has held an OU offer for over a year and was in Norman for the Bedlam game in December.

The Sooners are considered the favorite to earn a signature from the speedster, and that’s something every OU fan should be excited about. Listed as the No. 2 all-purpose back in the 247 Composite rankings, Pledger is a big-play machine. Check out his highlights from last season at Chaminade High School in California.

Pledger may be a bit diminutive at 5-8, but as OU fans learned from Quentin Griffin in the early 2000s, that can be used as an advantage. The guy has exceptional patience as he hides behind the big uglies and waits for the hole to open up, and he has the speed and explosiveness to make you pay before you even know he’s through the hole. You can’t tackle what you can’t see!

Pledger would really compliment bigger backs like Rodney Anderson, Trey Sermon and Kennedy Brooks in Oklahoma’s rotation. Oklahoma’s been able to churn out plenty of bruisers as of that, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for a guy like Pledger. The guy is exceptionally talented and packs a pretty good punch with his 200-pound frame. In short, the prospect of a guy like this playing at OU is something that should excite each and every one of you.
