Since Samaje Perine first stepped foot on campus in Norman, we’ve all known how big and strong the kid is. Hell, his body may have been ready for the NFL at that moment! We’ve also heard stories about how much the guy can lift in the weight room, and those stories were confirmed to the masses on at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine.
He plays RB, but had more bench press reps than nearly EVERY o-line prospect.

Samaje Perine did 30 (THIRTY) reps of 225 pounds on the bench press at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. That was far better than any other back, as Florida State fullback Freddie Stevenson was the closest to Samaje at 24 reps. For perspective, Christian McCaffrey was only able to do 10.
Perine has said in the past that he lifted 35 reps of 225 when he was in high school, but 30 isn’t exactly a disappointing number. I don’t think there are many who question Samaje’s strenth, but something like this definitely puts any doubt to rest. If you’re an NFL GM or coach looking for a back who can be valuable in short-yardage situations, he’s definitely your guy. And although Perine has suffered some injuries in his career, he’s definitely the type of guy who has the potential to carry the rock more than 20 (or 25 or 30) times in a game if need be. He’s certainly done it before!
