Norman North PG Trae Young has announced that he will reveal his commitment to the basketball world on February 16. Young previously announced that his top six schools were Oklahoma, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Washington, with all but the Huskies receiving an official visit. Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Kansas appear to be the three schools still in the running.

Young is listed as a five-star prospect by every major recruiting service, and it’s absolutely justified. Standing at only 6-2 and weighing only about 175, Young’s game resembles that for Steph Curry. Here’s some recent footage of Young against Coweta High School:
Here’s some additional footage of Young at last year’s Peach Jam, one of the premier AAU tournaments in the country:
Oklahoma fans became nervous a couple of weeks ago when Young’s dad went to Twitter and made some statements about his son’s future. Was he just venting his frustrations with certain local media members, or was he trying to make an excuse for his son’s potential departure from Norman?
Regardless, it’ll be pretty tough for Lon and his staff to keep Young from heading to Lawrence, but they’ve done just about everything they can throughout the process. If they’re able to somehow pull it off, it’ll be Oklahoma’s biggest recruiting victory since Blake Griffin decided to follow his brother to Norman 10 years ago.
Wow... that last sentence makes me feel old.
