Oklahoma Sooners Football: BOOM! Sooners Land 2019 WR Arjei Henderson

The Texas receiver had offers from Georgia, Florida and Texas A&M.

Many around the OU program thought the Sooners had a great chance to gain some commitments after this weekend’s Junior Day activities. It turns out they were right — but the commits aren’t even juniors.

Arjei Henderson is a receiver from Travis High in Richmond, Texas, near Houston. He’s been racking up the offers lately, as Scout reported earlier this month that Florida, Georgia and TCU had added their names to the list. Texas A&M was also very much in the mix.

Henderson was fast emerging as one of the Lone Star State’s most sought-after receivers, and his commit will put the recruiting world on notice. It’s a fantastic start to the 2019 class for the Sooners.

OU currently has just three commitments in its 2018 class, and is now approaching those numbers for the following year. But these early commitments are, I’d argue, a great sign for the state of Sooner recruiting. Yeah, it will be a challenge to hang on to commits for two years. But Oklahoma is clearly front of mind for recruits who have many options. That’s great news for Sooner Nation.
