The Sooner Nation could finally and officially celebrate Heisman Trophy winner No. 6 after Saturday night’s momentous ceremony crowning the 2017 winner, our very own Baker Mayfield. As you can imagine, the Twitterverse was ablaze about the Oklahoma Sooners superstar, and we’ve compiled some of the best tweets commemorating his special night.

Enjoy! Also, if you see some other tweets that are worthy of recognition, make sure to @ us (@ccmachine). We might just add them to the list!

Of course, no Sooner could be awarded the most prestigious award in college football without a little support from a certain vociferous previous winner.

Yes, Billy also dropped a “Dilly Dilly” to commemorate the occasion:

Baker’s two-time fellow finalist and 2016 Heisman winner Lamar Jackson:

Baker’s head coach, close friend and mentor, Lincoln Riley:

University of Oklahoma president David Boren:

NFL reporter Adam Schefter’s informed and unbiased opinion is refreshing. If only Kiper and McShay weren’t still burrowing their heads in the sand.

Oh yeah, this guy weighed in from who-knows-where:

ESPN’s Darren Rovell’s tweet is fitting after the former Mr. Football’s:

Sooner fan Lil Wayne... It’s safe to say Baker’s street cred is now probably stonger than it’s ever been.

Here are a few current and former Sooners congratulating their boy:

The state of Oklahoma’s top prospect in 2018, and soon-to-be Sooner, also weighed in:

And some more of the funny...

Oh, before we let you go, there was also a Heisman voter who admitted to being the dumbest person in America this morning. Our friend RJ Young explains:

I bet Brice Cherry goes on a lot of dates.

There was also a very special fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, Mackenzie Asher, mentioned by Baker last night who tragically passed away recently. Here are some words from her father, Jayson:

Congratulations from all of us here at Crimson & Cream Machine, Baker Mayfield. BOOMER!
