Plenty of drama occurred this past weekend in college football, but nothing bad happened to anyone ahead of the Oklahoma Sooners. Therefore, the Sooners stayed put at No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings.
- Georgia
- Alabama
- Notre Dame
- Clemson
- Oklahoma
- TCU
- Miami
- Wisconsin
- Washington
- Auburn
- USC
- Michigan State
- Ohio State
- Penn State
- Oklahoma State
- Mississippi State
- Virginia Tech
- UCF
- Washington State
- Iowa
- Iowa State
- Memphis
- NC State
- LSU
- Northwestern
With both teams earning wins this past weekend, Oklahoma and TCU are heading for a big-time battle in Norman. The winner of that game will have yet another quality win and will likely control its own College Football Playoff destiny.
In the short term, it appears that the playoff committee chose not to penalize Oklahoma for allowing 52 points, and that’s how it probably should be. Was it embarrassing? Yeah, a little. Does this look like a championship-calibur defense at this point. Of course not. But this team will have plenty of opportunities to prove itself in the coming weeks, so they’re right to just let it take care of itself. If the Sooners pick up a win against a team that has the No. 6 defense in the country, there likely won’t be a shortage of national respect for this team.
